if you used beard dyes on your head, just stay out of strong sunlight, they`ll be able to see you for miles out to sea, it will turn a bright brilliant day-glo blue/silver. when in doubt go to a real barber or beauty salon, ask the people there and dont be shy, thats their jobs, and busniness to color hair, have them show you the first time the how and what, then use the same stuff your self thereafter
To check graying of hair, mix lemon juice in olive oil, beat till frothy and apply on scalp and wash off after an hour. Premature graying of hair can be postponed by using a strong decotion of black tea and a tablespoon of salt, strain and apply to the roots for 45 minutes and wash with water. Don't shampoo. Question for black men's hair.?

Lets see I have dated an albino, my first hubby was a blond, my first bf after him had brown and my hubby of 19yrs now has black....I also find vin diesel rather attractive ......... I will take any hair or no hair obviously... That is not what I think makes a man at all.

Is there a new cream for black men shaving to eliminate bumps and ingrown hairs?
I don't think it's skin colour specific, but there is definately a cream to eliminate bumps and in-grown hairs for men. I found it in Shoppers. It will be with the men's shaving aisle. You may have to go to a large drug store to find it.

NOT GENERALIZING......I'm Black and last year I had about three boyfriends who were also Black.
Whenever I asked them what they liked about me the most they would say ';your hair looks cool';.
So I was mad and I said ';What do you mean';, and they told me that they liked it because it doesn't look like the others.
So I wasn't sure to take their comments as a compliment or as some sort of insult.
I felt they only wanted to be with me because I didn't wear my hair like eveyone else.
It made me feel funny because if I ever had a bad hair day they acted like the relationship was almost over or something!
I felt like they only wanted to be with me because of my somewhat strange and different apperance. If I threatened to cut my hair the relationship was in turmoil.
They were only with me for the so called ';look';.
This has happened to me more than once and I'm puzzled.

It's not a Black men thing it's a cultural thing. Western Culture is heavily influenced by the Roman Empire. Roman soldiers were required to cut their hair into crew cut or cropped style for combat reasons. After a while short hair hair cuts became associated with masculinity because of the soldiers. A soldier was thought to be a man's man and held in high regard. Of course the opposite of that was women with long hair. This represents femininity. These sort of cultural values have transcended time era after era. As children when we come into sexual awareness we associate what we see with specific genders. I remember when I was in the 1st grade my mom use to braid my hair. One day she didn't take the braids out of my hair and I had to go to school with them in. Back then boys only wore braids in the summer or on weekends but never to school. Braids where associated with girls and hair bows and barrettes. Needless to say I was ridiculed severely with the ultimate insult of the teacher even calling me a ';little girl';. That opens up another can worms that I will not get into. This may not have been true of everywhere in America but the braid association was true of area I was in. My point is culturally we are taught to make these associations. Personally though women's hair styles that are short or lifted accentuates the neck nothing screams femininity like a ponytail high on the head to me. Admittedly though I find tonytails attractive on women it is not a requirement. A woman is more than a ponytail or long hair or other body parts or nuances that we have associated with femininity. She is much more. A wise man understands.

Genetically, all black people have kinky hair unless they have a mutation in the gene that types for hair type. If a person is mixed between black and another race, they will most likely have the kinky hair because it is a dominant gene. Sometimes, if the white or other-race parent has straight hair, their child will have straight hair. It is less likely that a mixed individual will have straight hair because the gene for straight hair is recessive to the gene for kinky hair.

If by black, you mean African descent, I don't think any have straight hair. There are Pakistanis and Indians (Asian) who are very dark skinned (as dark as any African) and they have straight hair.

sorry to burst your bubble but there are all kinds of mixtures of ';black'; or african descended people who have naturally straight hair. everyone's hair is different and not all people have to use chemicals. that is a big misconception about all black people having to straighten their hair. all different kinds of people have kinky hair including ';white'; people but everyone is so mixed up you would have to do DNA to know what features come from where. you can't just tell by looking at people. the straight of an african descended person will be diff than that of a white person just like the diff of that between an asian and white person. everyone has their own opinion about which is better and people are always trying to change hair,features, etc. there probably aren't many if any actual pure blooded africans or any other race for that matter. here is a link about one of the many types of mixings..which is native americans and africans... here are more explanations etc

I've had long hair when I was young and again when I was in High School. Between those times I had my hair cut short into 360 waves. I can't stick with one thing for long so I decided to grow it out again. I need some products (leaning towards natural-store-bought-products) that will make my hair softer so I can ease through the rough afro look. My hair is naturally a bit soft but since i moved to Texas my hair has gotten drier. What moisturizers should I use? Any other tips like conditioning, drying?Growing hair for a black man?
I sometimes use Shea butter and this give my hair moisture. Never try to comb afro hair while dry, only detangle it while wet and with conditioner in it. The conditioner will make it easier to comb through. Also, don't comb your hair while it's drying or dry unless you want an afro, because doing so makes your hair very frizzy. Carol's Daughter is good, I've heard. It's on my to-buy list, so I haven't tried it yet. Raw cocoa butter also makes my hair soft. The only thing about shea and cocoa butters is that they cause a lot of build-up. If you're okay with the build-up then I recommend them, but I don't use them much because I don't like my hair with a lot of build-up that makes it feel dirty and heavy.
Since your hair is dry do deep conditioning treatments once a week to help retain moisture. Buy a deep conditioner and leave it in for about an hour or so.
As far as getting hair soft, it depends on the products you use. I use a cleansing conditioner called Wen and this makes my hair super soft. It's expensive but is well worth it if you can afford it.
Towels cause frizz so I don't use them anymore. Since my hair is still relatively short (6 inches) I wring out as much water as I can and then go outside and shake out the rest and let it air dry after moisturizing. If you want to use a towel then buy a microfiber towel because this is better for curly hair and doesn't cause frizz.
If you want to define your natural curls (assuming you don't have the z-pattern, no curl hair type) then buy hair products that are anti-frizz. Wen is great for significantly reducing frizz.
I use natural and organic products too, and I buy them from health foods stores. But, I also use other non-organic natural products, too. Raw shea butter can make your hair soft, as can mango butter. My hair is really getting thin on the top of my head. It didn't always used to be that thin. My Thinning didn't really began to happen until probably 2 or 3 years after I graduated in 2003. The amount of bleach or peroxide that's required to make black hair light enough to dye will cause MASSIVE damage!
Your hair will end up weaker and brittle.You'll be finding strands on your pillow,and clumps of it in your shower drain.
And then you have to dye it.That's a whole new brand of hell that you'll be inflicting on your folicles.
Odds are that when it's all said and done,your hair won't be anywhere near the shade of cool that you first envisioned,and you'll just end up wanting to shave your head to keep from being laughed at.

I think the best sort of thing with black hair is to get a darker highlight to work with your hair...you don't want to get something closer to blonde because especially with black hair it could turn out odd looking or it may not be able to take to your hair at all. Its going to be hard to get highlights with dark hair, they will let you know. But it will be possible, just don't go too light to damage it! Don't want things to start breaking off..that's what happened to me x.x . You should definitely ask the opinion of the hair stylist, she can help you out with what looks good for you..but make sure she has some good hair herself...some times you get the freaky ones. It's not just black men, it's ALL people that need to present a business like appearance conducive to their chosen profession.
Many professional occupations have a ';dress code';. I am an RN, I have to wear white shoes. I have long hair, I have to have it up. I cannot have long fingernails or wear excessive jewelry..it just goes with the territory.
But if you are adamant about your hair. Try interviewing and see how you do. You might be surprised.
You can always go into business for yourself.

Well id give it a try with the fro. ima girl with super curly cottony soft BIG hair. I plan on wearing my big hair to work when i graduate... but then again im in the fashion and marketing industry.

It's not just black men, it's ALL people that need to present a business like appearance conducive to their chosen profession.
Many professional occupations have a ';dress code';. I am an RN, I have to wear white shoes. I have long hair, I have to have it up. I cannot have long fingernails or wear excessive jewelry..it just goes with the territory.
But if you are adamant about your hair. Try interviewing and see how you do. You might be surprised.

When you hair begins to grow out you will begin to see a difference in the texture, your natural kinky texture and the curly texturized texture. Yes its possible just go old school and get an stove top straightening comb and buy some lard in the vegetable or oil section and section your hair off and put a dime size on the section and comb thorough with a regular comb and then straighten your hair.When you are done with you whole head you can then get scalp braids and they will last long.
p.s. Lard is water resistant so you don't have to worry about your hair frizzing back up into your Afro stage

Cheap kind won't work, and will fry your hair. They get pretty expensive, but if you're serious about it, then it's worth it.
