Why is it so acceptable in society for BLACK MEN to wear their natural hair and not for BLACK WOMEN?

I wear my natural hair(in braids like my avatar). I get compliments from it from everyone





but i heard some black women tell me that many black men look down at black women that wear natural hair, and they don't find it attractive. I've never heard a black man tell me that....BUT if this does happen, then why don't those black men relax their hair too!Why is it so acceptable in society for BLACK MEN to wear their natural hair and not for BLACK WOMEN?
I think that's not so much a matter of race, but one of fashion-victims and gender.





I've got the impression that in the past ten years it was fashionable to have straight hair, whereas before that everybody wanted to have wavy hair and in the eighties the mainstream ran around with very tiny curls and large backcombed bangs.





And I guess the reason why they criticize you is that women have this tendency to force everyone into looking like a fashion clone, whereas it usually isn't expected of men to follow all trends. And actually most men don't care whether a magazine says that their favorite hairstyle has gone out of fashion or not - and they're right doing do.





So, just stay the way you are and keep your hairstyle. Imagine everyone ran around with straightened hair - it would be pretty scary and boring. Those women who criticize who just haven't got a sense of individuality. And as you can see from the reactions of the men around you: being attractive isn't a matter of hairstyle.Why is it so acceptable in society for BLACK MEN to wear their natural hair and not for BLACK WOMEN?
Well my hair is natural and I'm confident, I don't care if others don't like but most people are positive in regards to my hair.

Also if all black men didn't like natural hair I wouldn't be engaged right now.
I hate for anyone to try and make an issue out of a non-issue. Relaxed or natural....who gives a shyt. If I want to wear a mohawk, I will. It's not a concern for anyone else. I seriously doubt that a black dude will look down on a sista for wearing her hair natural. I am almost 40 yrs old and I have never heard or witnessed this. It must be a new thing pertaining to young people today.

Who cares what they think? I'll wear my hair natural and if some white-washed nicca tells me that he doesn't like it that way, he can go and find himself a white girl cause I'm staying natural and nappy, whether he likes it or not.
Eats easier to convince women to spend hundreds of $ on hair care products. They've created a marketing demographic by instilling insecurity. Black women spend hundreds of millions on these products. I have no issue with a sexy afro on a woman.
Most women black, white, and hispanic dont wear their natural hair. It's either dyed, relaxed, or permed...even asian women dye theirs. Men don't care about that kind of stuff as much as women do.
Race is a weird issue, especially when it gets mixed with gender. I'm not black, but dated a black girl with braids and felt she was really hot.
I like natural afro hair. One of my black friends from Suriname has natural hair. She wears her hair in twists, and it looks great!
Who cares hair is hair as long as it looks good.
I perfer natural over relaxed
I guess people think it looks better on guys.

because afro doesn't look good on any women. the women should represent the feminine, grace full and delicate looking rather than the gross, harsh, coarse, huge and rough-looking.
